Speaking in Tongues

Let us deal with the subject of speaking in tongues. Do I believe in speaking in tongues? Yes, I do, but not the same way that some people believe it. You see, if you are going to tell me that this King James Version Bible is the inherent word of GOD you better be able to back up your words by at least having a little understanding of the original languages the Bible was written in. Moses did not speak English, Jesus did not speak English. None of the writers of the Bible did. Not even Paul, the writer of most of the New Testament. In fact, one of my collections of Bibles, the King James Authorized Version even says in the pages in the back that King James never DID authorize it! The reason he did not authorize it was because he was having an extra-marital affair and he wanted it to say it was alright for him to do so. But it didn’t. So much for the Authorized Version! Even it had  mis-translations in it. One very obvious mis-translation is the word “EASTER”. The word is 'PASSOVER'.

Paul could speak many different languages. He even brags a little about it in one of his letters to the Corinthians where he is speaking about languages. He says in 1st. Corinthians, chapter 14, verse 18 [ I thank my GOD, I speak with tongues more than ye all.] The word ‘tongues' is languages, and he was thanking GOD for his ability to speak and understand the many languages he could speak and understand.

In verse 19 he says:[Yet in the church I had rather speak five words with my understanding ] meaning a language he understood, [that by my voice I might teach others also, than ten thousand words in an unknown tongue.] meaning in a language he did not know like for instance; French or English or maybe German. Did he know these languages? I don’t know I am just using it for an example.

Over in Galatians chapter 1 verse 6-7 Paul says : [I marvel that ye are so soon removed from Him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel; which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.]

He is saying that it is not another gospel, it is the same gospel, it is just that some have perverted it by interpreting it incorrectly. Telling you it says one thing when it really says something else. I know a whole lot of people like that!

He says in verse 8; [But though we, or an angel from heaven preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you [even if an angel from heaven preaches something different [let him be accursed.] Can you tell the difference between a good angel and a bad angel? Not too many of us can! That is why you have to check them out.

He says in verse 12;[For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ.] He had studied the ancient scrolls and he knew and understood what they said . He was the one who was struck down on the road to Damascus

Let me give you an example of an unknown tongue; when I had my Bible teaching radio program, on the sister station was a Spanish speaking program. I used to understand a little bit of Spanish while I lived in California but over the years I have forgotten most of it. But my point is; if you do not understand the Spanish language then it is an unknown tongue or language. They have their own Bibles which have been translated into their language. Another point I want to make here is that you have these Christian English speaking church groups who go over to Isreal to teach the people there what the English Bible says and the people there more than likely have their own Bibles written in their own language. More than likely they know the Hebrew language.

My next point is this; if you truly want to understand the language the Bible was originally written in, then get yourself the Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance of the Bible. Get the older version by James Strong, L.L.D., S.T.D. There is a newer one out now that someone has tried to change the meanings of the original languages to suit himself, so be careful which one you get. Or you could get yourself a copy of the Inter-linear Hebrew- Greek-English Bible by Jay P. Green Sr. which is printed in the original language word for word with the numbers over each word so you can look up the words in your Strong’s, and underneath each word is the English translation. I got myself one! It cost a lot but it was worth every penny! Then you will be more able to tell the difference between a false prophet and one telling you the truth.

When I tell you a certain word in the English is a certain word in the Hebrew, Caldee, or Greek, I am interpreting a tongue or language for you. If I were to just read it to you in those languages you would not know what I had read to you, and therefore it would be an unknown tongue to you. I would just be talking to the wind or the angels or to GOD for they would be the only ones who understand what I am saying, and I don’t really think they need to be taught by me!

If there is any question in your mind as concerning what I have just said here, please let me know so I can help you find the answer. THAT is what a teacher is supposed to do!

When you have some time take a listen to some of my audio taped messages. Most of them are about 25 minutes long.
